Brave Onboarding — Welcome
Welcome to Brave People.
It’s Official! We’re working on a project together.
Brave Looks Good On You. If you’re reading this that means you’re part of the family. Welcome to a fresh outlook on ‘work’. The entire team is super excited that you’re here because you’re one of us now and you’ve earned it. That really just means you can stop paying for your coffee and snacks.
As a fast-growing digital product design company, we’re here to build, grow, and refine companies through results-driven strategy, design, and technology. You can’t do any of that if you don’t even know where the bathroom is so we’ve created this onboarding resource with you in mind. As you explore these pages, you'll pick up valuable information about getting started, our company values and philosophy, what clients you can expect to create for, how to navigate our space, your fellow teammates, and other essentials.

Brave Fun Facts
Brave is self-funded. We’ve never brought in outside financing. Since our earliest days this has been incredibly important in providing freedom to shape the company and its business practices.
We're more than a creative company. We began our existence as a pretty typical brand and graphic design shop. And we still pay close attention to brand strategy but these days our focus is on building branded interfaces for people to use, love, and re-use.
Culture & Values
Culture is currency around here. It's one of our most valuable assets.
While we hope that you fall in love with our culture and your work, we brought you aboard because we believe you embody our 4 core values below.
01
Collaboration
We’ve been doing this partner thing for a while now and we’ve learned the best things are made in teams.
Deeply knowing our clients requires intentional immersion — pushing, pulling, and challenging each other to create experiences that matter.
We want to laugh together over a meal, plan with your thinkers, create with your doers, and push the envelope until there's nothing left in the tank.
02
Trust
Healthy partnerships hinge on the ability to stare down the unknown and trust each others strengths.
At its best, trust breeds creativity; at its worst, it’s not trust. We believe cold pitching lacks context and RFPs often provide the wrong context.
These traditional agency practices lead to isolated work. Instead, we collaborate to define needs, solutions, budgets, and success metrics.
03
Iteration
Even if the first try is a hit, constant analysis and adjustment helps us realize the best possible version.
Why waste time on formal presentations and big reveals? We prefer going straight to work building prototypes with real-time feedback.
The same applies to deadlines. Arbitrary dates without context aren’t milestones, they’re nooses. We let iteration and data call the shots.
04
Value-First
Real talk: we’re tired of hourly based pricing. It’s an ugly tug of war between true vs perceived value.
Hourly based pricing misaligns the client and the creative(s) doing the work. Blind quoting = sticker shock. There's a better way: value-based pricing.
We lean on you to dig deep and quantify the perceived value of your desired solutions. When we achieve results quickly, we both win.
Guiding Principles
Need more actionable principles to apply to your time at Brave? We got you:
???
Communication
Transparency
Fun
1. This is your company too. Take extreme ownership.
2. Challenge assumptions, respectfully.
3. Automate everything that can be automated. Make process for everything that can’t.
4. Think first, then execute. You play like you practice.
5. Communicate until it hurts: with clients and each other.
6. Iterate more. Fewer presentations. No big reveals.
7. ‘Done’ is better than perfect. Ship it!
Employee Handbook
The dirty details have to be stored somewhere. We keep them in a Google Doc for the world to see. Even better, it’s digital so you can ⌘+F whatever you’re looking for.
